Online small groups launch!

Beginning Tuesday, September 17th, and continuing each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m., CUMC will launch its first online small group – because life is better together! We at CUMC know life is busy – jobs, kids, grandkids, aging parents and so much more. That’s why we’re offering a way we can connect in a meaningful way, and do so from the comfort of our own home – or even from work!

You don’t have to be a regular participant in weekend worship to be part of this small group, but we will use the weekly guide (found elsewhere on this website) for our conversation. We will also try and figure out ways we can come together every once in a while and make a difference in the world.

If this sounds interesting to you, contact Pastor Rick at He can fill you in on more details, and also give you the link you need to connect to the group. Life is better together!

Let’s get radical

This is our first message in the series “Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations.” This series, based on the work of Robert Schnase, highlights the basic practices of healthy, vital and fruitful congregations. Our hope is that each of us can take another step in embodying these characteristics for the common good.

First Friday Art Night

Beginning Friday, September 6th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., CUMC will launch its new opportunity to gather. It’s called “heARTS Alive!” This is a branch of the church, a faith community which celebrates the arts in order to interact with the area towns by creating a positive environment, strengthening community interaction, discovering and expressing each person’s creativity.

Every first Friday of the month, all are welcome to come and explore your creative side. We do ask that all children be accompanied by an adult, but this is open to all – and it is FREE! One month we might be painting, another we might be working with clay or some other medium and another month something else!

Want to know more? Or have a great idea that the group might do? Then contact Lori at See you in September!

New Message series June 9th

Starting Sunday June 9th, CUMC will begin a new series of messages on the Gospel of Mark. This book is a book about Jesus. Like a biography. The author, possibly Mark, wants to introduce and commend Jesus to his readers, and does so by telling the story of Jesus’ life, death and teachings. But this is not just any story. This is not just any biography. The books points to something more – something important is going on – a higher purpose to life. In this series, we’l explore this book and look for that purpose. And in the process, we may even discover a deeper purpose for our now lives. Join us!
