Worship Cancelled January 12!

Dear CUMC family,

Jen and Rick have spent much time talking and praying about tomorrow, and have made the difficult call to cancel the service for tomorrow, Sunday, January 12. The conditions are potentially hazardous, and we won’t know until it’s too late how bad things will be. Please spread the word to folks that don’t have email, and take some time in your own home tomorrow morning to give thanks as a family for the blessings that we have received.

We will continue our series on religions next week with a look at Hinduism. We look forward to seeing you call next week. Stay safe and if you run into trouble, please reach out to others in the community.

God bless and keep you all.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jen and Rick

Help along the journey

This is our third message in the series “The journey to Bethlehem.” This week we look at the story where Mary visits Elizabeth. Why did Mary feel is so important to travel so far to see her relative? How does this story help us understand the nature and character of God? And what does this story mean for us? Enjoy….

A surprising journey

Join us for week one in our series “The Journey: Walking the road to Bethlehem.” Each week we’ll explore a character in the story of Christmas, asking what this story means for us today. This week we listen for what the announcement to Mary means, both for her and us.

Giving with a conscience

This message is from week two in our series, “Spending, Living, and Giving with a Conscience,” where we take a deep dive into the Biblical perspective on using money and stuff. Every follower of Jesus knows that we are called to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. But what about our wallet? We know we’re are called to make an offering as part of worship, but what about spending money at the grocery store or a restaurant? This series will help us explore today’s culture of consumerism and the impact of what we buy. This three week series will finish up on October 27, and during that worship service we’ll make our commitments to being generous with God by making a financial pledge.
